These azurites "suns" (circular growth pattern) hit the market years ago with a big splash. The bright blue azurite has eye-popping contrast with the kaolinitic white matrix and is visually stunning. As with many mineral localities, the quality of specimens has decreased over the years, along with the quantity. From another dealer, I was able to secure a flat of early material he was keeping aside. This particular piece is arguably the best in the lot with it's deep and even blue hue nicely centred on matrix for full affect. From Malbunka Copper Mine, Areyonga, Gardiner Range, Northern Territory, Australia. Dimensions: 8.5 cm x 9.5 cm, (the sun's diameter is 3.5 cm)
