This element would have occupied the end of one of the animals three toes and formed the bony core of its hoof-like tip. Measuring 9 cm at its greatest dimension, the specimen displays a broad, tapered form and a pronounced curved profile. These are very difficult to find in complete condition due to there porous nature. This specimen is missing a small amount of the very tip (distal end) and shows evidence of water erosion; As skeletons disarticulated after death, streams and rivers often washed away and redistributed their bones often wearing them down.

The ungual was collected from the badlands near Patricia, Alberta, by long-time fossil collector, Harvey Negrich. This is a good unrestored and engaging example of the foot anatomy of a horned dinosaur.
