Although I am a Tsumeb dioptase purist, this specimen is attention-grabbing. I appreciate its three-dimensional nature, with its emerald green, broccoli-like mounds of dioptase crystals. At the base of the broccoli mounds are elongated and striated, single crystals of dioptase, all resting on contrasting dolomite. The presence of these two different forms of dioptase together on one piece steal the show for me. The luster is very vitreous and sparkles in the lowest of light. Sprinkled, here and there, are a few yellow-orange mimetite crystals which add quite a bit of interest to this dazzling piece.
