Calcite (stellate), Java, Indonesia

We recently acquired a collection of these amazing stellate (star-like) calcite crystals from a gentlemen here in Calgary. This collector says a "pocket" of these calcites were discovered on a small prospect somewhere on Java, perhaps near Sukabumi City, but the miners were very secretive so we are not sure. From approximately 1 - 2 tons of material our Calgary collector selected the best of the discovery for his personal collection. The prospect was subsequently abandoned and no new material will be emerging making these calcites very special. 

This is the largest piece in the collection we acquired and we call it "The Forest". This is absolutely stunning in person! Wow!! One can study the intricacies of all the crystals for hours! A friend said it reminded her of Superman's hideout. Securely mounted on a nice contrasting base. From Sukabumi City, Java, Indonesia. Dimensions: 10 cm x18 cm x 19 cm (excluding the base)
