This rare bornite crystal has been hiding in a quiet collection in Vancouver for many decades. The original label, revealing the locality as Rhodesia, helps shed light on this specimen's age. The name Rhodesia was used from 1965-1979 with the country changing names in 1980. More importantly, we know that bornite rarely forms crystals, even though it is a very common copper mineral ("peacock ore"). Though slightly patinaed after years of sitting on a shelf, the royal blue, purple and gold colors are still visible. Much smaller than our other offering from neighbouring Zambia, crystallized bornites are somewhat of a unicorn...and we have two! Don't miss the opportunity to add one to your collection. Ex Sarah Topham collection. Dimensions: 1.75 x 2.5 x 3 cm
