Williams (ca 1973)

An original lithograph by famous Canadian mineral dealer Prosper J. Williams. This beautiful pen and ink drawing depicts a wooded shoreline at Anstruther Lake, Ontario, where Prosper undoubtedly spent time. Detailed linework captures textured tree trunks, overhanging branches, fallen timber, and low vegetation, with the lake visible beyond. The composition balances an intricate foreground with the open space of the water.

This lithograph, on textured paper, numbered 11 of 500 and signed in the lower-right margin, offers a personal connection to Williams’ creative interests beyond mineral dealing. Its Ontario landscape and association with his collection make it a distinctive companion piece for collectors who appreciate the people behind their specimens. This historic piece of Canadianna comes from his long time partner, Sarah Topham from her personal collection.

Artist: Prosper J.
